Ke$ha - Die Young (Rainbow Dash) by AdrianImpalaMata Ke$ha - Die Young (Rainbow Dash) by AdrianImpalaMata
Electropop recording artist and Nashville, TN native Ke$ha revealed her new single off her upcoming album Warrior (due for release on December 4, 2012 in the U.S.), titled Die Young, on September 25, 2012. Deemed as a celebratory anthem by Ke$ha herself, she tells Carson Daly of 97.1 AMP Radio that the concept is "to live each and every single day like it's your last and to always remain having a youthful spirit no matter how old [I] get..."

Ke$ha's fans (affectionally dubbed as the Animal$$) tweeted their appreciation for Die Young; however, MTV, Seventeen magazine, and Rolling Stone weren't really positive with it due to its sameness, but other critics disagreed, praising its lyrics and production.

December 15, 2012
US radio stations pulled Die Young on that day (after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting the previous day) from airplay due to "violent lyrics"; the line We're gonna die young was possibly interpreted around "premature death". In a blog post on her official website, Ke$ha said that she was "forced" to sing those lyrics and had no control over them.
After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to Die Young. Forced is not the right word. I did have some concerns about the phrase "die young" in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that's one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song. But the point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and staying young at heart, and these are things I truly believe.

Ke$ha, December 20, 2012

I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums;
oh, what a shame that you came here with someone!
So while you're here in my arms,
let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young!

We're gonna die young!
We're gonna die young!

Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young!

Beat break...

Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young!

Young hearts, out our minds,
running 'til we outta time!
Wild child's lookin' good,
living hard just like we should!

Don't care whose watching when we tearing it up!
You know...
that magic that we got nobody can touch!
For sure!

Looking for some trouble tonight; (Yeah!)
take my hand, I'll show you the wild side!
Like it's the last night of our lives, (Uh-huh!)
we'll keep dancing 'til we die!

Young hunks, taking shots,
stripping down to dirty socks!
Music up, gettin' hot;
kiss me, give me all you've got!

It's pretty obvious that you've got a crush!
You know...
that magic in your pants, it's making me blush!
For sure!

Animal/Cannibal era Ke$ha was the equivalent of bathtub moonshine. Warrior is Ke$ha distilled and refined, and yes, that's a good thing. It also feels like a desperate dance song, with each passing chorus, the possibility of dying young seems more like a certainty. I know she's definitely going home alone.
